The specialized department (Fachstelle) “#MehrAlsQueer” (#MAQ: More than queer) in North Rhine-Westphalia offers information about and provides counseling towards topics about gender diversity and diversity of sexual orientation in the context of experienced racism, migration, religion and having to sought refuge. From an intersectional perspective we sensitize people for the situation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual and queer people (LGBTQIA+*) who are confronted with multiple layers of discrimination. We connect honorary as well as full-time professionals, LGBTQIA+* self-help teams and organizations, self-organized groups from and for migrant people, integrational agencies and institutions for social work. Our work includes workshops, lectures and further educational events, which encompass topics like LGBTQIA+* and racism. The main goal is empowerment of queer BPoC (Black People und People of Color), migrants and refugees. #MAQ especially focuses on strengthening self-organized structures in NRW. #MAQ was established in 2019 and is funded by the Ministry for Children, Family Affairs, Refugees, and Integration of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKJFGFI). Project carrier is the “Queeres Netzwerk NRW e.V.”
